Three friends bond over their shared experience of growing up in smoking families and the influence of their smoking mothers. Throughout their childhood, all three felt a strong aversion to tobacco, watching their mothers smoke with disapproval. As they entered adolescence, their aversion shifted to an attraction to the scent of tobacco, which began to change their relationship with their mothers through an emerging habit.
Each of them has experienced this journey in her own way:
- Giulia, the petite Italian brunette, remembers how she would choke when her mother smoked with the windows closed in the car.
- Lucia, the beautiful brunette girl with her hair tied up and a penchant for open-mouth inhales. She recalls on the dialogs the vacations spent with her mother. At 16, she had urgent cravings for a cigarette and would hide to smoke, stealing her mother’s cigarettes. Although her mother knew, they both kept it as a secret. During the video, she breaks wet-coughing quite often.
- Melanie, the tall girl with long brown hair who holds the smoke in during long absorptions, began to smoke naturally in front of her parents when she turned 18.
They all talk about the dizziness they experienced in the first weeks of smoking, which, instead of causing rejection, only fueled their addiction. Nowadays, both Lucia (20cpd) and Giulia (30cpd) have got a characteristic raspy smoker voice.
This video is presented in Spanish with English subtitles. The content features both individual solo scenes of each character–both indoors and outdoors–as well as group scenes. The latter offers an intimate conversation about how smoking, once rejected, became part of the lives of these three women, connecting them to their past and their family relationships. Now, we invite you to dive into this heartfelt and personal conversation.
